When I got to my internship I did all of my morning daily tasks and then I read the regular email from Megan and it asked me to go see her. After I read the email I got up and I went to her desk. She explained to me that the Congressman was going to need about 20 certificates for a pre-Juneteenth ceremony. These certificates were going to go to prominent black community members of Richmond.

Megan had already taught me how to make a certificates for the Congressman but I didn't know how many I would be making. I ended up making about twenty-five certificates that day. It doesn't seem like a lot but it is. Before I started making all of the certificates I had to format them all. When I was formatting them all I couldn't find the correct format and so I had to create one that was acceptable for the event-- awards, and local. I showed it to Megan and then she showed me where all of the formats were stored--which is where I thought I had looked but lo and behold the formatting I needed was there. After that I created a virtual certificate for every community member. I put their name, the date of that the certificates were to be awarded, and the message that was supposed to be on the certificate. After I did that I sent them to Megan for approval. When she approved them all I grabbed the certificate paper that I needed and I put them in the printer. I told everyone in the office not to use tray three because that is where the certificates were going to be printed and I didn't want their job to be ruined or mine.

After all of the certificates printed I let them dry for a bit and then I began to sign them. Our office has a signing machine with the signature of the congressman programmed into it. So I stood there holding each certificate and signing each one. After they were all signed and dried I put them into a certificate folder and I gave them to Megan. Making those certificates took about 3 hours--because I was also answering phone calls and emails, after I had completed those I left for the day!
