At the office Today I had to come into the office to do a training. This training was about how to conduct the protocol with regards to working as a representative in the House of Representatives. The first thing that I did when I got to the office was put my things down and grab coffee and Megan gave me the run down of everything that I had to do that day--because I was the only intern--I would also have to answer phone calls as a last resort and write in cases into InterTrac. She told me that the training was going to take a while and that after training I was free to leave.

When the training was going to start I logged into the portal and began the training. I thought the training was going to be just me and a pre-programmed training but it wasn't. Every house of representatives intern that was scheduled for that training that day was online. There was a group chat, and the people hosting the training were House of representatives H.R. Representatives. The H.R. Representatives went through safety, professionalism, interactions with the press, and power in the workplace. The session was about three hours long and I actually found it really helpful in understanding my wider purpose as an intern in the office. The training made me feel safe, and knowledgeable about behind the scenes components of being an intern. It was a really good training and I left the office feeling prepared and ready for work at the office!
