My first day at Walnut Creek

My first day in Walnut Creek was a little overwhelming. I got there a little bit before 9:00AM because I always get lost--and I hoped that I would find the office quickly. As soon as I entered the building I found the Office--it was on the first floor and in plain sight so I just buzzed the door bell and I was let right in! Megan, greeted me and then brought me to the back of the office. This was the first time I got to go back since I was interviewed or for any reason and so I was excited to see what it looked like back there. When I got to the back there were two offices one for Shanelle and the Congressman both were not in the Office--one for Ryan--who was in Richmond with Jessica the cubicle next to him and then one for Charles and Matt. then after both of those cubicles there is intern desk one and interns desk two. There is a TV and a small round table where people sit for lunch.
After I Megan introduced me to everyone we decided to have bagels and eat at the round table to get to know each other a little bit. That was really fun because I was surprisingly very nervous to be in the office and it was great to connect with people there. After the bagels Megan sat me down and essentially gave me a re-run down of the phones and how to use intertrac. It was very breif because I had told her that Ryan had already trained me and then I was let loose to input things into intertrac but not answer phone calls--one of the other interns, Jenny, was going to answer phone calls so I could get the hang of things little by little. I probably put like 15 cases into Intertrac that day and I was hoping that I was doing it right--I really didn't want to mess up because the office (I felt) really looked down upon mistakes. So I felt like I was going a little bit slow but I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right and that I was establishing my realiability and responsibility as an intern.
