My Summer Project

Today I walked into the office and Megan introduced me to my Summer Project! At this point, I have been through half of my internship and I was introduced to this project today! Megan gave me an overview of the day and then began to explain my project to me. Essentially, I was to go through old files of old constituents--make sure that they were put into InterTrac, and then I would file them away if they were not or shred them if they were.

It seemed relatively simple, but what I was supposed to do was to check that every file had every sheet inside of it and scan them all. Then I had to make sure that the file was in InterTrac, and then I had to shred the file--I thought this was going to be easy until I saw how big the files were. I was really really difficult because I had to make sure that I had to do them all in alphabetical order and I had to make sure that the file was at least 5 years old. So before I could even start filling them away I had to make sure that they were at least five years old and closed.

This took me my entire shift at the office, on top of our daily tasks, and then when it was my time to leave I had to explain what I was doing to the next intern--I later learned that this project was to be shared between all of the interns because it was so large. I left the office that day feeling really accomplished!
