Today was the day that the Town Hall Meeting in Lafayette was going to happen. I was really excited to go because this specific town hall meeting had to do with the enviornment and that was something that I was really looking forward to in my internship experience but unfortunately this Town Hall Meeting was going to occur when my other shift started at my other job so I could not make it. I expressed this to everyone at the Office and so to make me feel as part of the experience as possible they let me do all the behind the scenes work--which was really helpful.
The first thing that I had to do was stock check all of the boxes. The boxes that they take to the town hall meetings are stock checked before every Town Hall meeting so that the people going and setting up the tables and chairs have everything accounted for. So I checked to make sure that the boxes had water bottles, table clothes, sign-in sheets, question/reccomendation notes. Constituent Services pamphlets, and the Agenda for the Town Hall meeting. Once I did that and made copies of everything I put the boxes away and went to go make sure that the place knew we were coming. After that I had to take all of the agendas out because there was a mistake and put the new ones in. When I was finished the staff that was headed to the town hall meeting was about to leave for Lafayette so I finished just in time! I was happy that I got to be apart of this and contribute to the team effort for this event. The Congressman and his office puts on so many Town Hall meetings a year and so it was really helpful to see the back end of how an event like this gets put on.
